Rat Tails (Aporophyllums)

Aporophyllums, affectionately known as "Rat Tails" are also available from Little Falls Epi Nursery to add something different to your collection. These are crosses of aporocactus species with epiphyllum hybrids. 

They are available at R15.00 for two of a kind 12cm (5") cuttings.

Long hanging pendant stems are cylindrical and spiny with Spring flowers like little epiphyllums (average flower size 6cm)

These are really worthwhile as they can take a bit more sun than epiphyllums once they are established and are most spectacular once flowering, their stems hanging until they reach ground level where they will root themselves.

They are very easy to cultivate in the same conditions and soil as the epiphyllums and the two cuttings do quite well to start in a 10cm (4") pot.
